Michael Laverty set an impressive pace for Swan Yamaha as British Superbike testing reached the revised Snetterton 300 circuit, a week before the start of the new season.

Debuting the Yamaha in its Swan-inspired livery, Laverty managed a best of 1min 48.8secs around the Norfolk circuit, which has been updated and extended to 3km for 2011.

Shane Byrne was second fastest on the HM Plant Honda, just two tenths behind, ahead of Suzuki trio Josh Brookes, John Hopkins and Jon Kirkham, the latter having been fastest at Brands Hatch a day earlier.

With just a second covering the top ten, Michael Rutter, James Westmoreland, Loris Baz, reigning champion Ryuichi Kiyonari and Stuart Easton were also well on the pace in sixth down to tenth.

Gary Mason and Martin Jessopp were 11th and 12th best as the only other riders to have their unofficial lap times revealed.

Laverty's team-mate Tommy Hill, meanwhile, was taken to hospital after crashing in the morning, the Swan Yamaha man straining tendons in his arm.
