Kirkham set for BSB return with Suzuki

Jon Kirkham feels ready to tackle the 2011 British Superbike Championship head-on following successful pre-season testing results with Samsung Crescent Suzuki.
Jon Kirkham says he is determined to make the most of his breakthrough British Superbike opportunity following a handful of career false starts.

Having last competed at Superbike level in 2009 with a handful of outings on the Jentin Yamaha, Kirkham revived his reputation with a superb turn on a BMW in the 2010 National Superstock 1000 Championship.

That performance duly earned him a chance to return to Superbikes with Crescent Suzuki, which is also benefitting from the investment of his personal sponsor Samsung.

Joining forces with former MotoGP rider John Hopkins, Kirkham is thrilled to be starting the 2011 season with a front running team.

"Brands is going to be a weekend of reckoning, that's for sure,” he said. β€œThe team has worked hard to give me all the support I've needed in coming to terms with the BSB environment. As a result I'm in a far stronger position coming into the season than I thought possible just three months ago.

"The pre-season testing has been very thorough and by staying dedicated to the task I'm arriving at Brands Hatch with lap times that have surprised even me. Of course, there's a big difference once we're all on track together – that's when the gloves come off – but I could n't be in a better position than the team has got me to right now."

Not saying youre not entitled to an opinion but stating that daddies money got him the ride is the b@lox bit! He got the ride because of his results and commitment & personal backing from Samsung. Not seen many other riders bring a large multi-national company to the championship.
