Hill sidelined after warm-up fall

The Swan Yamaha man had established himself as the man to beat after cruising to pole position, but will now be forced to watch from the sidelines.
Pole sitter Tommy Hill will take no further part in second round of the British Superbike Championship after sustaining an injury in a morning warm-up accident.

The Swan Yamaha rider crashed in the opening minutes between Brittens and Hilltop after allegedly slipping on oil spilled by Loris Baz, who crashed shortly before.

However, while he was able to walk away from the fall, an assessment at the medical centre confirmed he had injured his shoulder.

As such, Hill – who commanded a four point lead in the standings heading into the weekend - has been forced to withdraw from an event that he started as favourite following his dominant performance in qualifying.

It means his team-mate Michael Laverty will start the opening race from pole position, ahead of John Hopkins and Baz, while Josh Brookes moves up onto the front row.

Warm-up itself was topped by Hopkins, followed by Shane Byrne, EVO front runner Alex Lowes and Gary Mason.
