MSS Colchester Kawasaki's BSB star Stuart Easton will be undergoing an operation to pin his pelvis and femur by Friday.

Easton suffered serious injuries during a qualifying accident for the North West 200 road race last Thursday and is being cared for at the Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast. The Scot is said to be progressing well.

"Stuart is having his op on Friday, maybe even earlier if they feel he's up to it. Fingers crossed," Easton's wife Claire told MSS team boss Nick Morgan.

"He wants to sleep a lot so his body recovers. They were thinking of moving him onto a ward today but we feel happier if they kept him where he was in intensive care.

"The bruising is all starting to come out, he will be black and blue by the end of the week! They are really happy with his progress and gobsmacked by how strong and tough he is!"

BSB Evo class star Alex Lowes will stand in for Easton at the forthcoming Thruxton round (see separate story).
