Hill tops FP3 at Snetterton

The Swan Yamaha rider was less than a tenth faster than YZF-R1 counterpart James Westmoreland, with John Hopkins in third.
Tommy Hill heads into qualifying at the new Snetterton 300 circuit as the man to beat after setting the fastest lap time of the British Superbike weekend during FP3.

The Swan Yamaha rider, winner of both races last time out at Knockhill, moved in front during the final seconds to deny Motorpoint Yamaha youngster James Westmoreland the top time.

Lap times remain fairly close amongst those up front, with John Hopkins just over a tenth back in third position aboard the Samsung Crescent Suzuki, while Josh Brookes on the Relentless GSX-R1000 was only marginally further behind.

Hill's team-mate Michael Laverty was fifth fastest, ahead of the championship leader Shane Byrne and reigning champion Ryuichi Kiyonari. Peter Hickman, Dan Linfoot and Jon Kirkham rounded out the top ten.

Elsewhere, Graeme Gowland was comfortably the quickest EVO contender in 12th overall, while Alex Lowes failed to set a lap time after crashing on his first outing.
