Tommy Hill has moved level on podium credits with Shane Byrne after his victory in the sole MCE British Superbike Championship race at Oulton Park.

The Swan Yamaha rider kept his cool in difficult weather conditions to pull ahead of Byrne on the road in the wake of John Hopkins's crash out of the lead before proceeding to control his advantage to the chequered flag.

Though it would go on to prove the only race of the day, Hill's three podium credits means Hill brings his tally up to 16, while neither Byrne nor Hopkins would score a single credit.

"I think the team probably wanted me to slow down but I just didn't want to lose that win! I knew I could get into a good rhythm and I was taking a few risks to stay ahead of the others, especially after the safety car but it was enough to break them."
