Tunstall replaced by Aussie champ at Brands

Doodson Motorsport names replacement rider for Brands Hatch
Former Australia Superbike champion Glenn Allerton is to replace Tom Tunstall in the Doodson Motorsport line-up for this weekend's British Superbike Championship meeting at Brands Hatch.

Tunstall has been ruled out of the weekend due to the injuries he picked up in his accident at Snetterton just over a month ago, with Allerton given the chance to replace him for the triple-header.

“As soon as the injuries were diagnosed I quickly realised we'd need to arrange another rider,” Tunstall said. “I started making calls from my hospital bed and was very close to sorting it in time for Oulton. For contractual reasons that didn't happen but we continued to work hard.

“Glenn is highly thought of by BMW, and his success on the S1000RR in this year's Australian Superbike Championship speaks for itself. It's certainly in at the deep end for him, he hasn't used Pirellis or seen any of the UK tracks before, and his first full day of the bike will include qualifying and a race! Glen is very motivated and enthusiastic about coming to BSB with the Doodson Motorsport team. We are looking forward to working with him and confident he will quickly adapt.”

Allerton currently heads the Australian championship again this season, holding a 56 point lead with three round remaining.
