Byrne: Kawasaki presence won’t change goal!

Shane Byrne is looking forward to taking on the World Superbike factory Kawasaki riders at Brands Hatch as he closes on a BSB title showdown spot.
Shane Byrne says he still expects to be challenging for victory at this weekend's Brands Hatch round of the British Superbike Championship, despite the presence of the factory World Superbike Kawasaki team.

The BSB series leader can guarantee himself a place in the upcoming 'title showdown' with a set of good results at the Brands Hatch triple-header, where he will be competing in front of his local fans once again.

As such, Byrne is still striving for a repeat of the wins he managed around the Indy circuit earlier in the season, though he remains wary of the threat posed by the factory Paul Bird Motorsport-run WSBK Kawasaki team, which will enter a pair of bikes for Joan Lascorz and Broc Parkes.

“I am obviously looking forward to Brands Hatch as it is my home round and I do have such good memories from there. I desperately want to win this weekend and I know we have the Kawasaki World Superbike team also racing, but that won't change my goal and the races are going to be ones to watch!

“We won on the Indy circuit at the opening round but you can't really compare the two, all I know is that I need to concentrate solely on winning again as we haven't in the past rounds. I know we have had the pace but it just hasn't worked out, but this weekend will be so important for the championship with three races and we will be pushing hard to make sure we stay ahead at Brands Hatch.”

@eric... What class is that exactly then? Cos I distinctively remember Byrne p@ssing all over the WSBK wildcard boys during his 2003 BSB championship winning season... No excuses, he's got the competitive bike and the home circuit advantage. I can see podiums in all 3 races bar mechanical failures.
