Rutter targeting Brookes at Brands

"I definitely want to beat Josh Brookes this weekend that's for sure, especially as it is the last round of the season!" – Michael Rutter.
Out of the top-six Title Showdown, Michael Rutter is targeting a return to the podium in this weekend's Brands Hatch BSB season finale.

And if he can beat Josh Brookes, the rider he clashed with at Cadwell Park, so much the better.

Rutter suffered broken ribs in the incident with Relentless Suzuki rider Brookes, which ruled Rutter out of the remainder of the Cadwell weekend - ending his chances of a place in the Showdown.

"I really like Brands Hatch and we were on the podium last time we were there so hopefully we can do the same if not better," said Rutter "I definitely want to beat Josh Brookes this weekend that's for sure, especially as it is the last round of the season!

"It is going to be an intense round as it is the title decider, but that won't be an issue for me and my aim is to get the best results possible for the Rapid Solicitors-Bathams Ducati team.

"The aim is to win and whether a rider is fighting for the championship or not, it will make no difference to me. We need to end the season with three good results after the disappointment of Cadwell Park and missing the last Title Fighter position.”

Rutter is eighth in the championship, 36 points behind Jon Kirkham (Suzuki).

Brookes is the third of five riders still in with a mathematical chance of the title with three races to go.

well i for one wish michael rutter all the best, it would be a consolation prize if he does get to the finishing line before brookes and we all know how good brookes is when he's on form so could be interesting little fight.

I always enjoy is reading the absolute bo11ocks some of the trolls pump out about Rutter being too old too slow or too whatever knowing that 80% or the time Old Rutter is going to put in a performance that will show how stupid their prejudices are. Sure Brookes is a very fast rider and hard to beat when he's on form. Guess what, so's Rutter. I would love to see Rutter, one of the cleanest a& safest riders in BSB, stick it to Brookes... Who isn't.
