Byrne fastest ahead of qualifying

The HM Plant Honda rider tops his second free practice session of the day ahead of qualifying.
Shane Byrne held firm at the top of the British Superbike Championship timesheets at Brands Hatch ahead of qualifying for the final round of the season.

The HM Plant Honda rider, who was also fastest in first free practice around the GP configuration, lowered his lap time to 1min 25.638secs to edge out Josh Brookes by three hundredths of a second.

Michael Laverty was third quickest on the best of the Swan Yamaha, while John Hopkins was faster than key title rival Tommy Hill in fourth and fifth respectively.

James Ellison continued to move up the order on the Sorrymate.com SMT Honda in sixth position, ahead of top EVO rider Graeme Gowland, Peter Hickman, Michael Rutter and Martin Jessopp.

Qualifying and the first race will take place later today.
