BSS: Kennedy signs for 2012 season

"They are a new team in the paddock, but our goal is to win the Championship" - Jack Kennedy.
By Chris Mackrell

Jack Kennedy has signed to ride for Mar-Train in the 2012 British Supersport Championship.

It will be the Ulster-based team's first venture into the British Championship, having competed successfully at Irish Championship level since 2006.

"We've been competing in the Irish Championship for a number of years and although we thoroughly enjoyed it, we feel it's time to step it up to the next level," said Mar-Train team owner Tim Martin.

"While we are not a factory supported team, we will receive assistance from Yamaha UK, so we will be building a totally new bike for Jack in 2012. We're very serious about being Championship contenders and we can't wait to get started."

2011 was a tough season for 24-year-old Dubliner, Kennedy, who suffered a serious back injury at Thruxton. Kennedy returned to take his debut win at the final meeting of the year at Brands Hatch.

Kennedy and Mar-Train teamed up at the Irish season ending Sunflower Trophy Races, where he was in contention until a crash and subsequent injury forced him out of the meeting.

"I'm delighted to get it all sorted and I'm very excited at the prospect of working with the Mar-Train team," said Kennedy. "I rode for them at the recent Sunflower Trophy Races at Bishopscourt and that pretty much made my mind up, it was a clear decision. They are a new team in the paddock, but our goal is to win the Championship - that's the plan."

Good luck Jack, have watched your progression over the last two seasons, and you obviously have some serious talent, hope the bike is good and you get the results you deserve.
