Straight after taking fifth place in the Macau Grand Prix in his one-off outing on the IGT liveried TAS Suzuki, Gary Johnson confirmed that he will ride for Honda UK in the Superstock 1000 series and the international road races in 2012.
The Lincolnshire racer, who won his first Isle of Man TT in 2011, commented “I always favoured staying with Honda for 2012 if I could get the right package and it doesn't get any better than this. I still need to sort out my superbike and supersport rides for the roads, but that is looking good at this point.”
His teammate in the Superstock series will be Jason O'Halloran, who was running consistently at the front during 2011 until injury put an early end to his season.
Johnson added, “I can't wait to get on the new Fireblade, get testing and get the new racing season underway. I think Jason and I will be good for each other and I'm just looking forward to getting back to racing and also the whole team environment at Honda Racing, which I know will be hard working but also good fun.”
For the fourth year in a row, Johnson has followed his Macau appearance with a holiday in Thailand. He has already been testing at Bira International Circuit and will be spending the weekend at Kan Krachaen to see whether he can better his times from when he was last there in December 2010.
