Bournemouth Kawasaki signs Irish teen Elliott

“Josh will be putting everything into his preparation for 2012 to bring the team the success it deserves”
Teenage prospect Josh Elliott will ride for Pr1mo Bournemouth Kawasaki in the National Superstock 1000 Championship next season.

The young Ulsterman from Co Fermanagh has been making steady progress in the sport following his racing debut in 2007.

He has competed in the prestigious Red Bull Rookies MotoGP Cup and German IDM Supersport Championship, where he finished on the podium in his rookie year at the Nurburgring in 2009.

The 17-year-old, who impressed during a test on an FTR Moto2 bike last year, has spent the past two years competing in the European Superstock 600 class.

“Since the end of the season things have moved very quickly. There has been much negotiation and contact with Supersport and Superstock 1000 teams in Europe and BSB.

“We have had a good relationship with team boss Dan Cheevers since Josh tested on the Pr1mo ZX-10 at Oulton Park last June and when he contacted us to discuss possibilities it was a very easy decision for both parties.

“Josh is delighted to be joining the team for 2012 and has been working hard all winter in case he got the opportunity to move up to the bigger machine. He will be putting everything into his preparation for 2012 to bring the team the success it deserves.”

Joe Burns and James Hillier will ride for the team in the British Superbike Championship next year.

Of course it was an easy decision for Josh. pp916 , you shouldn't be posting this on this article. I'm sure Chris's departure had nothing to do with Josh's arrival. You say no ill will towards Josh but it doesn't come across like that. Josh is a great talent, and will go very well on the bike. I hope Chris finds something, but don't link Josh with Chris.

can not believe the bitterness of the CW post has spilled over to news about a young rider getting a chance. all that stuff is feck all to do with the kid. agree with prathunter here. any kid would jump at this opportunity & at 17 he'll probably be the youngest in the class, so lets give him a bit of encouragement along with joe all the other kids in bsb. they are the future are they not?????
