Steve Hislop would have been 50 today
Today, January 11th, would have been the 50th birthday of British motorcycling star Steve Hislop.

'Hizzy', an eleven-time Isle of Man TT winner and double British Superbike champion, died in a helicopter accident on July 3, 2003. The Scotsman, also a British 250cc champion, had won his second BSB crown the previous season.

As well as his BSB titles, Hislop's most memorable achievements included a legendary 1992 Senior TT victory for Norton over Carl Fogarty and beating Valentino Rossi's MotoGP pole time during BSB qualifying at Donington Park in 2002.

He was one of Scotland's true legends! The achievement that stands out for ne the mist is beating Valentino Rossi's record at Donington on a Superbike! He was a great motorbike racer and I met him a couple of times at Knockhill and he was a great down to earth guy! He is sadly missed!
