Tyco Suzuki British Superbike rider Josh Brookes will blow off some winter cobwebs in a one-off appearance in the Island Classic meeting at Phillip Island in Australia.
Brookes, who will be joined by Northern Ireland ace and reigning British Supersport champion Alastair Seeley in the TAS Racing team this season to challenge for the MCE BSB title, received a last minute call-up to compete at the event.
He will ride a Suzuki XR69 F1 machine at the classic motorcycle event this weekend, deputising for fellow countryman Cameron Donald.
“It was a last minute call-up to do the race this weekend and it was a great opportunity,” Brookes told britishsuperbike.com.
“I head down to Phillip Island tomorrow (Wednesday) and then I get the first ride on the bike on Thursday.
"I am really looking forward to it as I am definitely having withdrawal symptoms from not riding now so it will be a fix before the start of the BSB season.”
Teams from Australia, the UK and a 'World 13' battle for honours in the International Challenge race at the event, which is also being attend by Northern Ireland road racer Ryan Farquhar.
Australia have won the main race for the past four years to establish an unblemished record.
