MSS Bathams Kawasaki riders Michael Rutter and Peter Hickman embarked on their first pre-season outing on the ZX-10R machines in Spain on Monday.
The Kawasaki outfit is the latest team to commence its preparations for the 2012 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship, which gets under way at Brands Hatch next month.
Rutter switched between his BSB machine and the superbike he will ride on the roads this season, with Hickman using the opening day of the shakedown to adjust to the new Kawasaki.
Reflecting Monday's test at the Alcarras circuit, Rutter told the official British Superbike website, www.britishsuperbike.com:
"Well day one and I have been back out on circuit and it has been a mixed day for me really as I have been riding the two different Kawasakis. I did some laps to get up to speed so tomorrow we can hopefully work through some new parts."
Hickman added: "It has been a really good start to the test and it has been a cracking day for me. It was my first ride on the new Kawasaki and on a new track so I was like a kid at Christmas. We didn't make any real changes today as all I wanted to do was get back up to speed and learn the bike so I had a feel for it before we started making adjustments.
"I don't think we are too far off the times that WFR [Honda] are doing already so tomorrow we can start heading in some different directions to see what changes could benefit us. All in all I am feeling happy and I think tomorrow we can really crack on."
