Stuart Easton admits he is feeling some nerves ahead of his much anticipated return to MCE British Superbike Championship competition at Brands Hatch.
The Scot was left with a series of horrific injuries following an accident on the North West 200 in May 2011, ailments that necessitated a recovery process that he is only now coming to the conclusion of almost a year later.
Easton will ride for the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki operation this season, marking the fulfilment of a promise by team manager Paul Bird, who publically declared that he would guarantee the 28-year-old a seat for 2012 shortly after the accident.
Now with the new season looming, three-time BSB race winner Easton concedes he is feeling some nerves ahead of what will be a popular comeback.
"Every time I've sat on the bike in testing, we have made progress and although it's been hard work since my accident, I'm now bike fit, I just have to get race fit and where better place to do that than at Brands Hatch this weekend. The team have kept their promise of providing me with a bike when I was in hospital and here we are but I'll admit to being a little nervous."
