Early British Superbike Championship leader Jon Kirkham heads to the second round of the season at Thruxton with the intention of maintaining his momentum following his ride to victory at Brands Hatch.
The 27-year-old marked his debut with Samsung Honda in style by qualifying in second position for the sole Brands Hatch race, before snatching the win from Alastair Seeley on the very final corner.
With the subsequent cancellation of the second race, Kirkham arrives at the high-speed Hampshire circuit at the head of the standings, a position he is now keen to maintain.
“It should be a good weekend for us at Thruxton and I want to keep the momentum going from Brands Hatch. Last year I had a big crash in practice there and had a lot of work to do in the race but I didn't have a bad set of results.
“This year though we know that the Samsung Honda can run a strong pace but I know some of the usual suspects will be wanting to make amends for last weekend so I just need to keep ahead of them.”
