Easton makes podium return

"I'm especially pleased to get my first podium of the season" - Stuart Easton.
Third place at Oulton Park on Monday marked Stuart Easton's first BSB podium since suffering serious injuries in a NW200 road race accident almost a year ago.

The Scotsman, who began the weekend with ninth in Sunday's 'Brands Hatch' race, built momentum with a fifth place finish in the opening Monday races, claiming a front row start for the final race in the process.

That race saw the PBM Kawasaki star shine from the off, leading for large parts of the race before being overhauled by team-mate Shane Byrne and reigning champion Tommy Hill (Yamaha).

Easton then held off Josh Brookes (Suzuki) by half a second at the line for an emotional rostrum return.

"It's been a good weekend and I'm especially pleased to get my first podium of the season,” said Easton. “I thought if I could make a break, I may be able to hold them off but as the race progressed, I started to fade as I'm still not bike fit.”

Monday's 1-3 result was the best ever result for the PBM team in BSB, beating the team's 2-3 finish with Tom Sykes and Byrne at Donington Park in 2007.

“I'm really pleased to see Shakey take the win and our first and third place finish was the best for the team,” said Easton, “and with both Shakey and me inside the top four of the standings we are well placed going into Snetterton."

Team owner Paul Bird added: "Things weren't looking too good on Sunday but the team pulled it round and we have had a great day today. This is the best result for the team and I'm proud of both Shakey and Stuart, they both deserved that."

I think this man will definatly win a race or 2 this year. Will also no doubt be in The Showdown. Amazing after such a bad accident last year to be competing with the top guys. Hopefully when fully fit next year he can push for a title. I hope to see this man and think he could do a job at WSB level along with Hill and Brookes
