Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes is determined to retain his position at the top of the MCE British Superbike Championship at Knockhill this weekend.
The Australian heads the standings by a single point from Swan Yamaha's Tommy Hill after twice finishing on the rostrum last time out at Snetterton.
Brookes failed to finish in the top three at the Fife circuit in 2011 but is determined to maintain his impressive form this weekend on the GSX-R1000 to gain the upper hand before the next triple-header event at Oulton Park in July.
“For me I just want to get out riding again and get a weekend up on the opposition; I think from the rounds we have had already Tommy and 'Shakey' [Shane Byrne] are the main competition but you never know what will happen in the races,” he told the official British Superbike website.
“I am focused and hopefully we can keep up the podiums at Knockhill; I always have the same approach to each round and that is to make points on the opposition and the biggest effect will be the weather but I don't mind it either way.
“I just need to be leading into turn on or two and stay out of trouble as last year I ended up covered in mud and out of the top three.”
