Laverty looking to consolidate Shootout place

“Now we are back in the top six we have to be consistent and remain there” – Michael Laverty.
Fresh from a podium and victory at Knockhill, Michael Laverty is looking to consolidate his place as a BSB Title Fighter in this weekend's Oulton Park triple header.

The Samsung Honda star arrives at round six holding fourth in the standings and looking to add to his podium credits for the end of year Showdown.

“Now we are back in the top six we have to be consistent and remain there,” he said. “Snetterton gave us a real boost of confidence and then again at Knockhill we were right up there and had another win and podium which puts us nicely in fourth at the moment.

“The Samsung Honda team have continued to develop the bike and we had another test before Oulton Park with some really good feedback. It won't be easy winning but I am aiming for more podium credits and if I can I will be fighting for the wins and giving it everything.

“I am sitting in fourth and we need to consolidate that in the three races this weekend.”

But while Laverty is sitting pretty, team-mate Jon Kirkham is just 13th in the championship and 26 points from sixth placed Tommy Bridewell.

Kirkham failed to score in the first Oulton round of the year after a big accident.

“I am ready for Oulton Park and I really want to get back into the groove this weekend,” he said. “We had a reasonable weekend with free practice and qualifying up until the crash in the race earlier in the year so I really want to be back up there fighting.

“It won't faze me going back this weekend and I want to be back up there especially with three races so we can try to get back in the top six.”

Laverty having got onto the form he's capable of is good for the series. Kirkham was on form but he's been off the pace he's capable of after a very big off. And I don't blame the guy. It can take a bit of time to recover however hard the rider tries and wants it to happen. But he's basically a class act, it'll come.
