Alex Lowes will be fit to pursue a place in the MCE British Superbike Championship title Shootout at Cadwell Park later this month, despite this accident while testing at the circuit (see below for full sequence).

The WFR Honda rider is currently joint eighth in the standings and 21-points behind sixth place Noriyuki Haga with two rounds - Cadwell Park on August 27 and Donington Park on September 9 - before the end of the Main Season.

Lowes suffered his spill during a recent track day at Cadwell, but it hasn't dented his confidence.

"We tested at Cadwell Park last week on a trackday and that is one of those tracks where it helps to ride before the race and I think the sessions we had will definitely help,” the official British Superbike website reports Lowes as saying.

“We had a good weekend at Brands Hatch and with two rounds before the Showdown we still have a chance to get the WFR Honda team into the top six. It won't be easy but I really want an even better result at my home round.”

Lowes, who has taken a best result of fifth so far this year, believes those on the edge of a Shootout place could cause a surprise in the remaining Main Season rounds.

"Cadwell Park is a bit of a different track to the others we have raced on recently and hopefully we can aim for a podium there,” he said.

"The team has been working really hard all season and I think those of us that are trying to get into the top six will be all trying to move up the order at Cadwell Park and then at Donington so we will have to wait and see but there could be a surprise or two."

I really like Alex racing in BSB. He is young and learning the ropes, but if he keeps crashing the team bosses will soon get fed up paying out to fix the bikes. ! As we have seen in world superbikes , the money is not there anymore. It will only last so long until he's out the door! He should try to settle the head a bit and think more about what he's doing ! He has the talent and I hope to see more of him in years to come. !
