Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki rider Shane Byrne is in high spirits after a strong start to this weekend's Bank Holiday MCE British Superbike meeting at Cadwell Park.
'Shakey' was second fastest during the first free practice session this morning on his ZX-10, even though he has not had the benefit of any testing at the Lincolnshire venue this season.
“It was a good first session for us; I had been hoping that we could have a dry session this morning and I was definitely relieved that we got that one in the bag just in case it does change,” he said.
“Honda and Yamaha have both tested here so to be immediately in the ballpark this morning and to have run the same tyre for the whole session is a good start.
“We had led most of the session until Tommy [Hill] did his lap but we are happy with our pace,” Byrne added on the official British Superbike website.
“Now we need to kick back and see what this afternoon brings; hopefully it stays dry and we can have another good session.”
Swan Yamaha's Tommy Hill posted the fastest lap in a time of 1m 28.102s compared with Byrne's best effort in 1m 28. 217s.
