Alex Lowes has timed his first MCE British Superbike Championship podium to perfection as his run to second position at Cadwell Park sees him assume one of the last two remaining spots in the six-way Title Showdown.

The WFR Honda rider came into the Cadwell Park weekend on the back of a decent run of form, with ten top ten finishes in 11 races putting him ninth overall and within striking distance of the critical top six.

Indeed, having maintained a fairly low profile as he focused on race finishes, Lowes burst forth at Cadwell Park to grab his second-career pole position, which he duly converted into a second place finish behind Tommy Hill in race one.

Marking his first-ever BSB podium result, Lowes, who went on to finish fourth in race two, was thrilled to now have the silverware to complement his new found consistency.

"That was just mega; we wanted to be fighting for podiums and that was a great race for us. I was riding around and thinking about just keeping consistent; I think I have calmed down this season and that has made the difference.

"We have taken positives throughout the weekend and now we have been on the podium once we should be aiming for at least the top five in every race."

Lowes has now moved up to sixth in the overall standings with just the two races at Donington Park to come before the three-round shootout gets underway for the top six riders. Currently, Lowes is 17 points behind fifth place Tommy Bridewell and six points ahead of Ian Lowry.
