Danny Buchan went a long way to proving he belongs in the MCE British Superbike Championship after recording a fine fourth place finish on only his second appearance at Cadwell Park.
The reigning National Superstock 1000 runner-up, Buchan made his BSB debut at Brands Hatch following a lay-off with a back injury, but while he failed to trouble the points on that occasion, he was a consistent front runner at Cadwell Park.
Getting the measure of more experience MSS Bathams Kawasaki team-mate Michael Rutter, Buchan qualified in sixth position before battling it out with Jon Kirkham for a top five finish in the race. Completing his pass late on, Buchan went on to finish a fine fourth for one of the team's best results at this level.
Though a fall early on in the second race would bring a frustrating climax to an otherwise strong weekend, Buchan was delighted to be a top five contender so soon into his burgeoning BSB career.
“The first race was fantastic, we have been testing a lot and I feel much more comfortable on the Superbike. At Brands I was a bit nervous as it was my first race on the bike and I wasn't 100 per cent fit, but here at Cadwell I felt relaxed and getting fourth was a brilliant result.
“Looking back I think I could possibly have overtaken Kirkham earlier, but that's experience. Falling off in the second race was disappointing but I was up at the front again and now I can't wait for Donington Park.”
