Beltran: 'Supremely strong' 2013 line-up

"We are very happy to announce what we think is a supremely strong rider line-up in both Superbike and Supersport" - Havier Beltran
Samsung Honda team manager Havier Beltran has labelled his 2013 rider line-up as 'supremely strong' in both the BSB and BSS classes.

Michael Laverty and Jon Kirkham finished fifth and twelfth for the team in this year's standings, with race winner Laverty subsequently inking a MotoGP deal with PBM for 2013.

Kirkham will also not return in 2013, with the official Honda team instead putting its faith in former triple champion Ryuichi Kiyonari and rising star Alex Lowes, with Jason O'Halloran spearheading a return to the 600cc class.

“We are very happy to announce what we think is a supremely strong rider line-up in both Superbike and Supersport,” said Beltran.

“With Kiyo returning we know we have a rider who is a proven winner and we hope to get the best out of him once again. Alex Lowes is a young, exciting rider on so many levels and has the potential to become one of the greats.

“With Jason, you know what you get, hard-work, dedication and above all speed. He is the ideal rider to spearhead the Supersport programme, a championship we last competed in, and won in 2009, and want to win again!

“We have a hunger for more silverware and are confident we have the right people in place in the team to make this happen.”

The team, formerly backed by HM Plant, will be entering the second year of its title partnership with Samsung. Their UK-based testing programme will start in March 2013, ahead of the first race of the season from 5-7 April at Brands Hatch, Kent.

"...but you could also think the Kiyo of 2011 and how obviously unmotivated he was..." MD that is a very unfair comment dude. I would say that he did very well to even finish the season after the disaster that hit his country and its people.
