Jenkinson joins SMT Racing for 2013

'There's no doubt in my mind that Adam has the potential to win the championship' - Robin Croft
Adam Jenkinson has renewed his old association with Robin Croft's SMT Racing team to contest the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship this season.

Jenkinson previously rode for Croft between 2007 and 2009, finishing fourth overall in the series in his last year with SMT and claiming a race win at Silverstone.

The 28-year-old, who also enjoyed success in the class in the past with Clive Padgett's team, will ride a Kawasaki ZX-10R under the SMT banner.

He has prior experience of the machine, albeit when he rode a Kawasaki in the British Superbike Championship for Buildbase in 2010.

Team owner Croft, who will run Dan Stewart at the Isle of Man TT races this year and has also joined forces with Tim Reeves for the TT and British F1 Championship, said Jenkinson has the potential to challenge for the title.

“I've known Adam since 2007 and have obviously run him before, enjoying a good, successful relationship so when I heard it looked like he'd be sitting the season out due to a lack of finance, I decided to see if we could help him out,” said Croft.

“He's too good a rider to be sitting on the sidelines so after several meetings and a few phone calls, I decided to stretch the team's effort and add Adam to our sidecar effort with Tim Reeves.

“There's no doubt in my mind that Adam has the potential to win the championship so we'll be doing everything we can to achieve that goal.

“With both Adam and Tim in the line-up, as well as Dan Stewart spearheading our solo effort at the TT, we're extremely hopeful of having a strong 2013 season.”

good to see adam has a ride, top bloke and rider, just needs a bit of luck on his side, keeps his motor home at my mates, and will always have a chat.

Glad to see Adam's doing well with SMT after the first couple of races. While Pagett's is a great team, think he's been held back a bit by the lack of power on the Fireblades in the last few years - just shows he can be right at the front with the right bike.
