Westmoreland showing pace ahead of BMW bow

James Westmoreland proves he could be a threat in this year's British Superbike Championship with a competitive build up to the 2013 season.
James Westmoreland has earmarked himself as a potential front runner ahead of the 2013 MCE British Superbike Championship season after posting some encouraging lap times on his Buildbase BMW debut.

The 2012 BSB Riders' Cup winner makes the move to BMW machinery this season with a view to hauling the Builbase-backed team further up the grid, as well as crack his BSB podium duck.

It's an endeavour that the 24-year-old has begun positively as he breached the top five during pre-season testing at Donington Park and Snetterton.

"The [wet] first day [at Snetterton] meant that the second day was even more important for us and it has been really productive. Yes it was cold, but we completed around 40 laps on what is still a new bike and team for me and we proved today that we have really gelled well together now.

“Our pace has been good and given the conditions it was where we should be; I am pleased we stayed and made the most out of today as it was beneficial for us without a doubt."
