Smrz hoping Padgett deal comes off

Jakub Smrz impresses during pre-season testing on the Padgett's Honda, but it is still no guarantee that either himself or the team will be on the starting grid at Brands Hatch...
Jakub Smrz feels he can be a strong contender in the 2013 MCE British Superbike Championship with Padgett's Honda, though it remains uncertain whether a deal with the team can be done in time for the season opener at Brands Hatch.

Clive Padgett's eponymous team has been seeking a financial partner to continue racing in the BSB series this season, but with less than two weeks to go before the start of the 2013 season at Brands Hatch, the search is still on.

Despite this, the Padgett's team were still present for pre-season testing with former World Superbike rider Jakub Smrz in the hope that a strong performance from the Czech rider would encourage some potential backers to step forward.

For his part, Smrz produced a strong performance on the Honda CBR1000RR, particularly given he had never turned a wheel at Snetterton before. Lapping just half a second off the pace at the Norfolk circuit, Smrz – who is without a ride after his original deal with Splitlath Redmond Aprilia fell through – is hoping a deal can be put in place.

"I like this track a lot and I didn't know what to expect before I came here,” he told the BSB website. “I have not been far from the top in both sessions and I know that I could have gone faster but I didn't want to make a mistake in these conditions and crash. I feel really well in this environment and I really like the feel of the Honda. There are still areas where I can improve and I just hope we can make this happen."

Hopefully Kuba is present on the grid when the season kicks off. He deserves a ride after performing well for those Liberty scumbags. This year can be the best BSB season yet. Where should I put my money on? Byrne? Kiyo?....maybe Lowes? Or Ellison....Brookes?? Or what about kuba Smrz?? OMG!!! Can't wait!
