Alex Lowes continued to hold firm at the top of the MCE British Superbike Championship timesheets ahead of qualifying for the second round of the season despite limited dry track time.

With dark clouds threatening leading up to the session, nearly all riders hit the circuit at the first opportunity to get a quick time in, with just three or four laps completed before the conditions deteriorated.

In those laps it was Lowes who made it a clean sweep of fastest times in each of the three practice sessions, with Shane Byrne and Josh Brookes filling out the top three.

Peter Hickman was fourth quickest on the sole Lloyds British GBmoto Honda, ahead of a quartet of Kawasakis in the form of Danny Buchan, Keith Farmer, Howie Mainwaring and Chris Walker, the latter also suffering a fall at Club. Behind them Martin Jessopp posted his first top ten session result since switching to BMW machinery, while Jakub Smrz was tenth quickest.
