Samsung Honda's Alex Lowes will start from pole position in the first MCE British Superbike race at Oulton Park on Bank Holiday Monday.
Lowes set a blistering lap during Q3, becoming the first rider this weekend to dip into the 1m 34s bracket with a stunning time of 1m 34.884s giving him the upper hand over championship leader Shane 'Shakey' Byrne.
It was a determined qualifying performance by Lowes, who led the way in Q1, Q2 and Q3 to underscore his dominance.
Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki rider Byrne – second in each qualifying session – lapped in 1m 35.344s to secure second place on the front row ahead of Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes, who improved his fifth position from FP3 to lap in 1m 35.784s.
