Byrne 'a bit disappointed'

6 July 2013

Shane Byrne was a 'bit disappointed' to miss out on Snetterton pole to Alex Lowes, but the dominant MCE BSB title leader achieved his main goal of a front row.

"You can never be too disappointed; we always aim for a front row and that is the important thing," said the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki rider, who will start between Lowes and Tyco Suzuki's Josh Brookes.

"The first two qualifying sessions weren't actually that good for us and in the third one I think we finally got it together!

“I did a lap that wasn't that cool and then there was somebody in front of me and I thought 'keep going'. I sat behind him and waited a lap but the chequered flag was already out before I could have one last stab at it.

“I am a bit disappointed but Alex's lap was pretty rapid!"

Byrne holds a 30-point advantage at the head of the BSB standings heading into this weekend's fifth round. The reigning triple champion has won six of the eight races so far, including a double victory last time at Knockhill.
