Snetterton: BSS: Seeley powers clear at top

'It's been a hard weekend with the conditions and heat here and we all had to work really hard to get the results we got' - Alastair Seeley
Alastair Seeley powered back to the top of the British Supersport Championship at Snetterton after bagging a brilliant double for the Gearlink Kawasaki team.

The Ulsterman lost the lead of the series to title rival Stuart Easton by one point after round four at Knockhill in Scotland, but he quickly moved back to the championship summit with a quick-fire brace and now heads Easton by 40 points.

“I'm really pleased to have taken the double race win here and also regain the lead in the championship,” said Seeley.

“It's been a hard weekend with the conditions and heat here and we all had to work really hard to get the results we got.

“It was a huge benefit for us to come and do the test here and get a good set-up before we arrived for the race weekend,” he added.

“I'd like to thank all the Gearlink Kawasaki team for all their hard work this weekend and I'm glad I was able to repay them with a double race win.”

Seeley won Saturday's race from Luke Mossey and team-mate Wilson by more than five seconds.

On Sunday, he again seized the lead and dictated the pace from the front, winning from Wilson and Billy McConnell.

“The first lap of the race on Sunday was a little messy and we were all very bunched up, I just wanted to get my head down and try and make a break,” Seeley added.

“I've always gone well here in the past and luckily I was able to do the same again, everything went right and I hope we can continue this form for the rest of the season.”

Key rival Easton struggled with a heavy cold and set-up issues with his Mar-Train Racing Yamaha and could only finish ninth and 13th to concede ground in the title race.

a fantastic result for the Gearlink Brand who are one of the friendliest teams in the Paddock, a great weekend for them and the start of something special for this team. Congratulations Norma and Michael for the way you get your team pulling together, well done to Alistair and Ben who have really recently set the pace at the front in what is probably the closet racing you will see in the UK
