Shane Byrne heads into qualifying for the sixth round of the 2013 MCE British Superbike Championship as the hot favourite for pole position after heading up FP2 around his home circuit.

Having been half a second faster than his rivals in FP1, though Byrne's margin would be whittled down to two tenths in FP2, he was still a comfortable margin ahead of the pack.

Heading the 'best of the rest' was James Ellison on the Milwaukee Yamaha, with Alex Lowes and James Westmoreland holding station towards the front of the timesheets in third and fourth positions.

Josh Brookes lifted himself into the top five with the fifth fastest time on the Tyco Suzuki, ahead of Jon Kirkha, Ryuichi Kionari and Chris Walker. Michael Rutter and Jakub Smrz completed the top ten.
