Oulton Park BSB: QBSD Motorsport announces move into BSB

QBSD Motorsport announces a mid-season step up to the British Superbike Championship with Jason Poole riding a Kawasaki ZX-10R
The MCE British Superbike Championship grid is set to expand from the seventh round of the season at Oulton Park following the announcement that QBSD Motorsport is stepping up to the series.

The British team has spent part of the 2013 season competing in the National Superstock 1000 and 600 Championship, while it has also been involved in the Spanish-based CEV series this year.

Making the mid-season move now so as to better prepare itself for a planned for a full BSB campaign in 2014, QBSD will enter a Kawasaki ZX-10R ridden by Jason Poole.

Following in the wheeltracks of Halsall Racing and GBmoto by moving from Superstock to Superbike competition, Poole is looking forward to the chance to compete in the premier class.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for us to progress and to move into the Superbike class; it has been an aspiration of mine since I started racing and it is for most of the riders in this paddock. We are a new team and after a frustrating start to the Superstock season we decided that we should make the step as the benefits for our partners are so much more in the top class.

“I hope that it will actual inspire some other riders and teams too as we have seen from Halsall Racing and GBmoto that you can make the progression and with hard work get results.

"At Oulton Park we will obviously been in at the deep end, but sometimes that is the best way to be. I look on this season as laying some foundations for the future in the Championship. We will be more Stock based than some of the other teams, but with the Motec ECU, the new slick 17 inch Pirelli tyres that will become mandatory next year, and some new front forks that really is the main difference.

“There is a perception that it takes more than that but the technical rules make it easy to move up and for us this challenge is what we need to take the team to the next level."

Team manager Mark Quelch, meanwhile, suggests that a part-season in BSB is an invaluable chance to gain experience and attract a high profile rider for 2014.

"The team moving into the Superbike Championship was something that was mentioned at Snetterton and it soon gained momentum. We investigated all avenues of bike and rider but we decided to stay with the ZX10 and Jamie. This enables the team to get valuable experience in the class with a view of bringing in a higher profile rider next year. We are very excited but realise the transition is going to be very hard

nice to see another team swelling the ranks of BSB, but what a crass statement to make " with a view of bringing in a higher profile rider for next year ", wow i bet that instilled a sh*t loads of confidence in their present rider.
