Colin Wright back in BSB paddock with Idaq

"I always insisted I wouldn't return to racing unless it was with the right team" - Colin Wright.
Idaq Motorsport has confirmed that Colin Wright will be its team manager for the remainder of the 2013 National Superstock 1000 Championship.

Wright is BSB's most successful team manager, winning titles with Troy Bayliss, Neil Hodgson, Gregorio Lavilla, Shane Byrne and Leon Camier - plus over 100 race victories - as head of GSE Racing from 1999-2009.

Wright has also won races with GSE at WSBK level. After GSE quit racing at the end of 2009, Wright took on the role of director at GSE-Group where he will continue in addition to his Idaq duties.

Wright, a guest of Idaq last time at Oulton park, will take over the reigns from this weekend at Cadwell Park.

"I always insisted I wouldn't return to racing unless it was with the right team. Mark, Sarah and I met a month ago to discuss their current team and future plans,” he said. “I immediately felt comfortable in their company and when offered a position, I didn't take long to accept. I'm still fully committed to my work at GSE Plant and the Healey's. However, I'm confident over the next few years we can build Idaq Motorsport into another GSE Racing."

"When I approached Colin a few weeks ago the intention was to just have a meeting and learn as much as possible from the most successful team manager in the history of British Superbikes,” added Team Principal Mark Roebuck.

“It soon became apparent to me that Colin's love for the sport and winning was still there and a deal could possibly be done for Colin to return to the paddock with Idaq. Now that deal has been done the future is looking very exciting. I know that Colin can turn Idaq Motorsport into a team that is capable of winning championships at any level and will definitely bring something extra to the British Superbike paddock."

Idaq runs Peter Ward, James East and Paul Curran on Kawasaki machinery. Lead rider Ward is tenth in the championship standings.
