Cadwell Park BSB: Lowes to the fore in Cadwell FP2

Alex Lowes has ended the first day of MCE British Superbike free practice at Cadwell Park with the fastest lap time after topping FP2 around his home circuit.

The Samsung Honda rider vied for the top spot with main title rivals Josh Brookes and Shane Byrne for much of the session before moving a comfortable two tenths clear in the closing stages.

Brookes held onto second position from his Tyco Suzuki team-mate PJ Jacobsen, the American bidding for two good results that Cadwell Park this weekend to give him a shot at reaching the Title Showdown with only four races remaining.

Series leader Byrne was fourth fastest, ahead of FP1 pace setter Ryuichi Kiyonari, while Tommy Bridewell – who just missed out on a podium finish on his Halsall Kawasaki debut at Oulton Park – was back in the mix in sixth position.

Safely through to the Title Showdown now, James Ellison was seventh best on the Milwaukee Yamaha, ahead of leading Buildbase BMW rider Jon Kirkham, Chris Walker and Dan Linfoot.
