MCE British Superbike Championship leader Shane 'Shakey' Byrne was satisfied with a rostrum finish and fourth place results at Cadwell Park, where the Kawasaki rider has experienced bad luck in the past.

Last year, Byrne crashed in practice and missed both races at Cadwell.

He was unable to reel in Alex Lowes in race one before a technical issue in the second encounter spoiled his hopes of another top-three finish.

"I've never had much luck at Cadwell Park but to even get to race this year was a bonus after what happened last year," said Byrne.

"I was happy enough with the pace in the opening race but we tried a change for race two and it simply didn't work so I'm a little frustrated to concede some ground to Alex this weekend.

"We will check the data to find out what we need to do as I really need to maximise my advantage at Donington Park before the Showdown starts."

Byrne leads the championship by 37 points from Lowes after eight rounds but in the crucial Podium Credits standings, Byrne's lead is only eight points over the Samsung Honda rider.

Donington Park hosts the final round of the championship in two weeks' time prior to the three-round Showdown.
