Bridewell 'feeling mega' after Cadwell rostrum
27 August 2013
Tommy Bridewell delivered a sensational podium finish for the Halsall Kawasaki Racing team at Cadwell Park and afterwards declared: I'm feeling mega.
It was the Bolton-based outfit's maiden MCE British Superbike rostrum result, with Bridewell taking the runner-up spot behind Alex Lowes in race two.
He only rode the ZX-10R for the first time at Oulton Park last time out but has quickly gelled with the machine.
Bridewell, who finished fourth in race one, said: “I'm feeling mega, that was a brilliant race. It was a race where I actually felt really comfortable as I knew exactly what I had to do and I played it just right.
“Once I was up to second I had pressure from behind from Josh [Brookes] and James Ellison and I managed to hold them off for a while.
“When Josh did get through he caught me off guard but I knew I was still in a podium position and that was what I wanted. I am so happy with this result.”
Delighted team owner Martin Halsall said Bridewell's runner-up heroics were 'amazing'.
“Tommy's result was just unbelievable, amazing, fantastic and I definitely didn't expect it,” he said.
“I'd set a goal for a podium by the end of the season but what Tommy has done here this weekend is nothing short of incredible.
“He has proved what a talented and mature rider he is and I am so happy for him, he really deserved this result.”
Bridewell, who left the Bathams Honda team earlier this season, holds eighth place in the championship and is 25 points adrift of Jon Kirkham, who currently occupies the sixth and final Showdown spot.
