Milwaukee Yamaha's James Ellison will focus on securing the seven MCE British Superbike Championship points he requires to seal a Showdown place in race on at Donington Park this weekend.

Ellison, currently fourth in the points standings, intends to ride a calculated race in the opener on Sunday to guarantee his status as a Title Fighter, before 'going hell for leather' in the final rounds.

He finished on the podium at Cadwell Park and was boosted by a double in the Silverstone 200 event, held on the MotoGP undercard at the weekend.

Ellison said: "We wanted to get that place in the Showdown at Cadwell Park and that obviously didn't happen so the first race at Donington we need to get that sorted as we can't afford for anything to go wrong.

"I won't say I am going to take it easy, as we still need to close the gap in the podium credit table, but we need to have a solid race one and then once that Showdown place is confirmed all hell can break loose!

"Usually I am not a rider that has race tactics or anything like that but now we need the place in the Showdown and then to go hell for leather over the final rounds to fight for those wins."

Following this weekend's ninth round of the championship at Donington, the final three title-deciding Showdown rounds commence at Assen on September 22, followed by Silverstone on October 6 and the final round at Brands Hatch on October 20.
