Bridewell won't go down without a fight

4 September 2013

Tommy Bridewell hasn't given up on his chances of knocking the Buildbase Kawasaki team out of the Showdown places at this weekend's ninth round of the MCE British Superbike Championship at Donington Park.

Bridewell has excelled since he joined the Halsall Racing Kawasaki outfit after starting the season on the Bathams Honda.

He powered the Kawasaki ZX-10R to a stunning rostrum finish at Cadwell Park in the previous round, earning the team a dream podium in its maiden BSB season.

Bridewell is 25 points adrift of Buildbase BMW's Jon Kirkham, who holds the final Showdown place at present, and 20 behind James Westmoreland on the second Buildbase machine in seventh.

Donington represents the final opportunity for riders to nail down a place in the Showdown and Bridewell is ready to go down fighting.

“For sure I am going to Donington Park with the 100 per cent focus to get into the Showdown,” he said.

“The problem is that I can do the best performance I possibly can but that might still not be enough as it will depend on what the other riders do. I will be pushing to the maximum that's for sure.”

Quattro Plant Bournemouth Kawasaki's Chris Walker still has an outside chance of gaining a place inside the top six at his home round this weekend, while Tyco Suzuki's PJ Jacobsen and Keith Farmer on the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki cannot be mathematically ruled out.
