Alex Lowes was determined to ramp up the pressure ahead of the MCE British Superbike Championship Showdown as the Samsung Honda rider roared to another double at Donington Park.

Lowes has now won the last four BSB races following his brace at the previous round at Cadwell Park and has emerged as a major threat to Shane 'Shakey' Byrne's bid to win the crown for a record fourth time.

The Honda rider is only six points behind Byrne heading into the title-deciding phase of the championship, which commences at Assen on September 22.

Lowes said: "I don't think I have ever pushed as hard as I did at the end of those races to take the double.

"I wanted wins this weekend as the points make it close and I am really excited about the Showdown. It is so close so it should be really good fun at Assen."

Lowes won the opening race at Donington after coming under attack from Byrne and James Ellison.

He secured the double with a hard-earned victory in race two as Byrne pushed his title rival all the way to the finish.
