James Ellison expects the battle for the MCE British Superbike crown to be 'intense' as the legendary Dutch TT circuit at Assen hosts the opening Showdown round this weekend.

Ellison, who has been joined in the Milwaukee Yamaha team for the final three rounds by Tommy Bridewell, who yesterday split from Halsall Racing, sais strategy won't play a part as he goes all-out for race wins.

"I feel pretty good and ready for the Showdown. The races have had such a tough pace this season if you compare them to the equivalent last year so we know like everyone else we have to constantly up our game," he said.

"The Showdown is the important part of the season and it is going to get really intense.

"All of us want it and when we get to Assen you know that there will be no strategy and no-holds-barred as it's that point in the season now."

Ellison secured his place as a title fighter last time out at Donington and is currently 26 points behind leader Shane 'Shakey' Byrne prior to the Showdown opener.
