James Westmoreland has confirmed he will remain with the Buildbase BMW team for next year's MCE British Superbike Championship as he looks to build on his overall top five finish in 2013.
The 25-year-old spent much of his season embroiled in a tussle with team-mate Jon Kirkham to reach the 'Title Showdown', with Westmoreland eventually getting the edge to progress to the six-way shootout for the first time in his career.
Going on to secure fifth place in the overall standings – the best ranking for a BMW rider in British Superbikes -, Westmoreland has subsequently re-signed for 2014 with the intention of qualifying for the Title Showdown once again.
"I am really happy to be with the team again for next year and that was my intention even before the end of the season,” he said. I feel like we are a big family at the Buildbase BMW team and last season we had incredible support and achieved a lot.
“We pushed hard last season and we did a good job and I think we can build on that next year as the Showdown is where we need to be again. I am looking forward to getting started and aiming for an even stronger season in 2014."
Buildbase BMW has also announced that Lee Jackson will ride for the team in the National Superstock 1000 Championship.
