Jakub Smrz is excited by the prospect of spearheading Millsport Ducati's full debut in the 2014 MCE British Superbike Championship.
Smrz travelled to Northern Ireland recently to spend some time with the Millsport team and is itching to begin testing in the New Year.
The Czech rider, who previously secured five World Superbike podiums on Ducati machinery, will ride the 1199 Panigale for the team next season, which makes the step up full-time to the BSB class.
“After our season finished I started to work hard on my 2014 plans. In November I spent a few days in Northern Ireland visiting the Murray family from Millsport Ducati Racing and my trip was good because as you know I will join them for next season and will be back on my favourite bike - a Ducati,” Smrz said.
“I'm very excited about next year and looking forward to start our testing programme. Apart from a short visit to the Motorcycle Live show in Birmingham I have been doing my usual winter job, which is training and preparation for my second full MCE BSB season.
“The only problem here in the Czech Republic is that it's an early start for the winter. It's already freezing and snowy which makes it difficult to go riding with a motocross bike.
“All I can do is usual training like going to the gym, playing badminton and floorball, boxing or yoga. Hopefully there will be an indoor motocross track close to me will be opened to start riding.
“I must say I really miss racing and can't wait to start testing to start the MCE British Superbike season again.”
