GBmoto Racing's James Ellison and Chris Walker have been undertaking an extensive training programme ahead of the opening pre-season test in March.

Development work on the pair's new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R machines is well under way at the GBmoto Racing workshop and both riders are focusing on building their fitness ahead of the first round of the MCE British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch in April.

New dad Ellison has utilised the winter break to rid himself of an old injury and has been working hard on his training programme following a visit to the team's personal trainer, Richard Griffin.

Ellison has also been riding his motocross bike at Colin Edwards' Boot Camp in America.

"It's been a really positive off-season so far, I had a bit of a clean-up operation towards the end of last year just to completely fix some old injuries and I've since been coming back to full fitness," he said.

"Obviously becoming a dad in November and having our first Christmas as a family was fantastic. It's always nice as a rider to be able to relax for a few weeks over the holiday period and not worry so much about what you eat and drink.

"As soon as we hit January I was straight into full training and the recent assessment with Griff, the team's trainer, was tough but definitely worth it - I've always had a strong interest in fitness and training but he was able to teach me some new things meaning I can structure the final few months before Brands to ensure maximum results," he added.

"We're now in America for a few weeks - Sarah, my wife, comes from Texas so we're over here to see family and take advantage of the better weather.

"I'm getting plenty of cycling in and I've got a motocross bike out here too so I'm getting plenty of bike time - I'm also currently in the middle of a week-long visit to Colin's Bootcamp which, as always, has been great fun.

"The team have been working behind the scene getting the bikes prepared so I'm looking forward to trying out the ZX-10R for the first time."

Veteran Walker has also been keeping in shape with regular outings on his MX track but is counting the days to get back to the real thing on the GBmoto Kawasaki.

"I can't wait to finally get out on the GBmoto Kawasaki if I'm honest. It's been a really busy few months what with taking the Chris Walker Race School to the different shows and my training for the season," he said.

"It's been great meeting so many fans, and they all seem as excited as I am to get the racing season underway again.

"The whole team have shown a lot of faith in me and given me a brilliant package and I'm genuinely excited to get going, so I've been focusing on getting myself into the best possible shape.

"I'm off for my assessment with the team's trainer in a few weeks which should give me a strong basis for a final push ahead of testing and Brands Hatch."
