Hutchinson still adapting to new FFX Yamaha

FFX Yamaha's Ian Hutchinson makes good progress in Spain as build-up continues to 2014 BSB Championship
FFX Yamaha's Ian Hutchinson is continuing to adapt his style to the short circuits on the YZF-R1 as he readies himself for the MCE British Superbike Championship.

The Yorkshire star will combine the BSB series with his commitments to the international road race meetings, when he will switch to the Milwaukee Yamaha machines along with Australia's Josh Brookes for the North West 200 and Isle of Man TT.

He was back on track during two pre-season tests at Cartagena and Alcarras in Spain for the first time since his stunning comeback at the Macau Grand Prix, where he scaled the top step of the rostrum in November.

Hutchinson said: “It has been really good to get back on the bike after the winter as the last time I rode was at Macau last November.

“I just focused on doing my own thing at the tests but we have really done some mileage; at Alcarras alone I did 80 laps on the first day and then 60 laps on the second.

“I am still learning a lot about the Superbike and being back on the circuits but it has been really good. I am looking forward now to getting back on one of the BSB circuits for another test as that will have a bit more relevance so we can keep moving forward,” he added.

“We have had a good start and now the team can evaluate what we have learnt in Spain and see how we can build on that back home.”

Young Northern Ireland rider Andrew Reid, from Jordanstown, also took part in the tests ahead of his debut for the team in the Pirelli National Superstock 600 Championship.
