Shane 'Shakey' Byrne remained at the top of the times at Almeria on day two of the MCE British Superbike shakedown in Spain.

Byrne headed the morning and afternoon sessions on the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki ZX-10R to maintain his flying start to the test.

The three-time BSB champion improved his fastest time to a 1m 36.1s lap to lead effervescent veteran Chris Walker on the Lloyds British GBmoto Kawasaki by 0.727s.

Walker was only the second rider to dip into he 1m 36s bracket as the popular BSB ever-present shows no signs of slowing down.

Howie Mainwaring made it a Kawasaki one-two-three on the Quattro Plant ZX-10R, 0.899s adrift of Byrne, while Walker's team-mate James Ellison concluded the day in fourth place, almost a second off the leader.

Riders Motorcycles BMW rider Martin Jessopp was fifth quickest ahead of Dan Linfoot on the second Lloyds British GBmoto Kawasaki machine, with Stuart Easton seventh on the Riders Solicitors Kawasaki, 1.627s behind team-mate Byrne.
