James Westmoreland will experiment with some 'radical' set-up changes on Friday as the Buildbase BMW Motorrad rider steels himself for the opening round of the MCE British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch.

Westmoreland is entering his second season in Stuart Hicken's team after an impressive year in 2013 that saw him finish fifth in the Showdown.

And he is now aiming for a positive start to the campaign at the Easter meeting, buoyed by the pre-season feedback from BMW Motorrad's technicians in Germany.

"It's felt like a very long winter. I'm thrilled to be on the eve of racing again. Our testing has gone well, and we have had great support from the BMW Motorrad technicians in Germany," he said.

"We're going to be trying some radical new set-ups during the test sessions on Friday as a result. With four days to practice and refine the bike, I think we can have a really strong start to the 2014 season."

Westmoreland and Ryuichi Kiyonari will be joined at Brands Hatch by Michael Dunlop, who is entered in the first two BSB rounds as part of his build-up to the Isle of Man TT races.
