Milwaukee Yamaha's Josh Brookes has shown further evidence he is capable of leading the challenge against Shane Byrne on home turf as he set an impressive pace in FP2 at Brands Hatch.

Having been out-performed by Byrne in FP1, the Australian struck back in FP2 to lap just 0.046secs outside Gregorio Lavilla's long-standing Brands Hatch Indy lap record, set back in 2007.

Indeed, though Byrne was still very much in touch in second place, the chasing pack was certainly closer in FP2 as well, with Jakub Smrz, Stuart Easton and Chris Walker all going underneath 46secs for the first time to complete the top five.

James Ellison followed up his GBmoto Kawasaki team-mate in sixth place, ahead of Buildbase BMW riders James Westmoreland and Ryuichi Kiyonari, while Simon Andrews and Martin Jessopp completed the top ten.
